The Etiquette When Playing Blackjack

There are certain things that you should not do while you are playing Blackjack; these things are not rules of the game, but they will make the game more enjoyable for everyone who is involved. They will keep people from feeling like you are annoying or asking you to leave. If you follow a few basic bits of etiquette, it will enhance your Blackjack experience.

First, play by yourself if you do not know the rules. Many people come to play with a lot of experience. They do not want to sit there and play a very slow game because you have to keep asking what you are supposed to do. Along the same lines, do not ask the dealer for advice. The dealer is there to make sure that the game is played, not to tell you how to play it. They will not want to give you a lot of tips to help you win. While their paycheck may not reflect it, they are also your opponent during a game. They want you to lose to the House.

Next, make sure that you tip the dealer from time to time. This is just good to show them that you appreciate their efforts. This is especially true if you happen to be winning a lot. The dealer will not mind getting less tips if you are clearly losing all of your money, but you should try to do it anyway if you can. At the same time, do not talk to the dealer too much. This is just annoying to the other players. You probably want to refrain from even talking too much to the players. They have come to gamble, not to strike up a conversation with you. One thing that you should never do is give them advice on how to play or correct any of the mistakes that they make. This makes you look arrogant and no one who is losing money will want to deal with you.

Finally, do not order too many drinks and get drunk. You could then become excessively loud, especially if you are losing. This will drive people away and could cause the casino to ask you to leave. You should really avoid having drinks at the table at all unless you are sure that you will not spill them. The other players do not want to get spilled on, and the dealer certainly does not want a drink spilled on his or her table.
